Homeowners often encounter plumbing problems within their home, which may be tricky to fix by themselves. Some people opt to try and fix the problem themselves while others may feel more comfortable hiring a professional to take care of the job. But when to call a plumber?

There are a couple of situations where home plumbing is absolutely the cheapest way to go. However, if one is not confident of an issue, he or she may cause further damage to the problem resulting in a heavier price tag. We will look at some situations here:

Drain Clogs

If the problem you are experiencing is a clogged drain with food or solid waste then you may be able to fix the problem yourself by using a plunger.

If the waste does not flow through, never try to use liquid drain cleaners. The drain cleaners contain many chemicals which are potentially harmful to your plumbing pipes and your bodies. A plumber can safely solve the clogged drain issue through the use of a motorized snake drain or a hydro getting equipment for multiple plumbing fixes. It is always better to err on the side of caution rather than further damaging your pipes and drains.

Leaky Toilet

If the issue you are experiencing involve a leaky toilet, it may be an easy fix to find the leak on your own and seal it up. Unfortunately, toilet leaks can sometimes be difficult to track down and if the leak is coming from the base of the toilet cause by a bad wax ring, you will need to call a plumbing company so they can dispatch a professional which will need to remove the toilet from the floor and replace the wax ring with a new one, then properly replace the toilet. This job can be difficult for someone who is unfamiliar with the processes involved.

Leaky Faucet

If you do have basic plumbing knowledge then it may be quite simple for you to replace a leaking faucet by yourself. This will save a lot of money in the long run. On the contrary, if you are unsure about the steps that necessitate a successful installation, calling a plumber is a safe way to ensure the leaking will stop and the faucet will be properly installed. Changing a faucet may seem like an easy enough job to do by yourself, but there are a lot of tools that are needed and unexpected things that could happen in the process.

It is always best to call a plumber who is a professional when problems occur in your home. You can assure the problem will be fixed properly the first time, and you can assure they have all the correct tools on hand.

Want to call a plumber now?

When you opt to take care of these projects by yourself, you may still need to purchase certain tools or products and you will more than likely encounter a new set of problems you did not expect. For peace of mind and a stress free solution, call a professional for all your plumbing fixes.
